IELTS Test Structure
To receive a band score, which is displayed on the IELTS Test Report Form, all applicants must successfully complete four modules: listening, reading, writing, and speaking (TRF). While the Reading and Writing Modules vary depending on whether the candidate is taking the Academic or General Training Versions of the Test, the Listening and Speaking Modules are the same for all candidates.
Speaking exam in the IELTS test is held across a table, one-on-one interaction with the invigilator whereby all the responses of the test-taker are recorded on an audio recorder for further perusal.
SPEAKING (11 to 14 minutes)
The listening test is divided into 4 sections, each with 10 questions, for a total of 40 questions. The test-taker receives a workbook in which all answers must be written while the audio is playing.
LISTENING (30 + 10 minutes)
40 questions covering three passages in academic reading, varying in complexity. There would be 13 to 14 questions for each passage.
READING (60 minutes)
ACADEMIC WRITING - This module carries 2 tasks. Task 1- Report writing (illustrating a diagram of words) Word limit-150 words. Allotted time- 20 minutes. Task 2- Analytical essay writing. Word limit- 250 words. Allotted time- 40 minutes
WRITING (1 hour)
